For nine years, Dr. Maria Mascari provided genetic counseling services for families across Central Pennsylvania within a tertiary care medical center.  Over that time, she developed the appreciation that many private obstetricians would welcome a genetics professional who could serve as a resource, in their office setting, for genetic counseling services, coordination of screening tests and prenatal diagnosis, as well as discussing options should problems be identified. Dr. Mascari received her Masters degree in Genetic Counseling from the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public Health in 1985.  She subsequently received her Doctoral degree in Medical Genetics from the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, Pennsylvania State University College of Medice in 1991.  Dr. Mascari is a Diplomate of the American Board of Medical Genetics with dual certification as a Master's level genetic counselor (1981), as well as, a Ph.D. medical geneticist (1996).
