APRIL 2007, I've been producing and engineering music in Soulkeeper Studio, playing intimate house concerts, teaching guitar, and continuing to take pictures. Betty McDaniel's Memorial Project is making progress, slowly but surely, with Jim Woodyard at Creation Studios.I'm writing new songs, and co-writing with others. Also, some life poetry that is not meant for song - like "Pathway" (see below). I'm thankful for all these things. I wonder if you saw Michael Apted's "49 Up" (the same director of "Amazing Grace"). Best reality TV show ever. In this documentary we meet Neal, a man who has been on the verge of losing his mind in the earlier episodes of 35 Up and 42 Up, who has suffered in remote isolation. His life story is quite gripping and I was interested to know what had happened to him over the last 7 years, since 42 Up. One day while looking at a butterfly, Neal realized that our lives on earth are short and that he too was to spread his wings and fly. Faith in God's love, a genuine experience of that love, seemed to have touched him. At 49, he is on the road to recovery. I found his story moving in all its chaos, beauty, and hope.
Here's a poem from this past winter with a photo taken at Reifel Bird Sanctuary, Delta, January 2007.
