CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES 1 cup butter or margarine, softened 3/4 cup granulated sugar 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed 2 eggs, beaten 1 cup chocolate chips 1 cup chopped walnuts 1 tsp. vanilla 2 cups sifted all purpose flour 1 tsp. baking soda 1/2 tsp. salt Cream shortening and gradually cream in the white, then the brown sugar. Add the well-beaten eggs and beat until light and fluffy. Stir in chopped nuts and vanilla. Add chocolate chips to mixture. Sift the flour once, measure and sift again with baking soda and salt. Add to creamed mixture and stir until well blended. Drop by spoonfuls onto greased cookie sheets. Bake at 350F for 12 to 15 minutes. Makes 5 dozen.
