SWEDISH ALMOND BARS 1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened 1 cup granulated sugar 1 egg 1/2 tsp. almond extract 1 3/4 cups all purpose flour 2 tsp. baking powder 1/4 tsp. salt Cream butter and sugar together. Add egg and almond extract. Add dry ingredients and mix well. Divide into thirds and form each portion into a 12" roll. Place 4" to 5" apart on ungreased cookie sheets. Flatten to 3" wide. Brush each with milk and sprinkle with ground almonds. Bake at 350F for 12 to 14 minutes or until edges are slightly brown. While cookies are warm, cut diagonally into 1" strips. Cool and drizzle with icing. ICING 1 cup icing sugar 1/4 tsp. almond extract 3 to 4 tsp. milk
